Overview

Restoran Sing, nestled at 36, Jln Permas 10/6 in the bustling Bandar Baru Permas Jaya of Johor Bahru, offers a compelling destination for late-night and seafood enthusiasts alike. This unassuming eatery is best known for its flavorful Lala Soup and the coastal favorite Asam Curry Fish Head, both dishes steeped in rich, pungent spices that capture the essence of Malaysian seafood cuisine.

The restaurant's standout is arguably its diverse and inventive Lok Lok selection. These skewered ingredients, mostly deep-fried, come with a variety of house-made chili sauces that elevate the simple fare into something aromatic and satisfying. Despite their modest appearance before cooking, each Lok Lok item transforms into a crunchy, savory delight, making it a popular choice for supper seekers. Complementing this are dishes like Fried Lettuce and Lala Bihun, each crafted to highlight freshness and balance in flavor.

Restoran Sing caters primarily to those looking for a casual dining experience late into the night, as noted by its extended hours until 5 am. This timing makes it a haven for night owls and hungry workers craving hearty, comforting meals after hours. The service style enhances this relaxed vibe; patrons select their Lok Lok skewers or order from a varied menu, which arrives promptly within 5 to 10 minutes, ensuring a swift and satisfying meal without rush.

On the experiential front, customers have noted the venue can feel quite warm, with some light concerns about flies, suggesting that the ambiance leans more toward functional than refined. Yet, the consistently fresh seafood—especially in the clam soup infused with harmonious hints of Hua Diao wine—cements its reputation. The spaciousness and straightforward, no-frills setup reflect a focus on food quality over decor, appealing to locals and visitors who prioritize taste and variety over ambience.

Restoran Sing stands out with its authentic Chinese seafood steamboat influences and a dynamic Lok Lok offering, attracting a diverse crowd ranging from families to solo diners seeking flavorful, affordable late-night options. Multi-payment methods at the cashier add to the convenience, reinforcing its role as a practical go-to spot in Johor Bahru’s vibrant food scene.

The lok lok variety is alot and creative! The lok lok doesn't look appealing but after it's cooked, they're actually very appetising! I enjoyed the fried potato, bak kua, roast pork belly and the cheese mantou! Too many flies in the area. If they can improve their hygiene it would be even better. We visited on a Saturday evening about 6:50pm. We took the items we wanted and they cooked it and served it to our table. After we're done eating, we get the servers who will calculate the total cost of the items we ordered and we pay at the cashier, either cash or card payments are accepted. Our Food came 5-10 minutes after we ordered.

The fresh prawn lala hotpot is good. Prawns are fresh but the size of lala is small compared to the neighbouring lala pot. Nonetheless the soup is infused with hua diao wine.. There are also many varieties of lok lok available & the accompanying sauces are good.

Decent range in Chinese food focused on steamboat and various seafood. What I tried was the clam soup which was delicious and flavorful! The loklok also had a lot more variety compared to their other branch at Mount Austin. Lastly, their cooked food was on point, fresh and tasty.

Among the many Lok Lok eateries in Johor Bahru, Restoran Sing stands out as a reputable player in the Lok Lok scene. It offers possibly the best Lok Lok here in Johor Bahru. Having operated for more than a decade, this place is popular with locals and travellers from Singapore. The selection is aplenty with more than 80 kinds of skewers, from Prawns, Cuttlefishes, Baby Clams, Pork Slices, Pig Intestines, Bak Kwa to assorted balls. Do take note of the colours on the tip of the skewers as they come with different pricing. There are four types of sauces as an accompaniment to your Lok Lok. My recommendation is the signature spicy chilli sauce. Besides Lok LoK, you can also order local dishes such as Lala Soup and Huadiao Chicken. My meal cost is as below: Lala Soup - RM20 ???? Yellow Stick - RM2.50 Blue Stick - RM3 Red Stick - RM4 Silver - RM5 ???? Silver & Green - RM7
